Add to my calendar Add to my calendar
the concept of local Charlestonian, Chef, Yoga Instructor, and self proclaimed "Ecstatic Living Activist" Ken Immer. Spending over a decade working in restaurants brought Ken a great wealth of food knowledge, but also a lot of stress and an unhealthy lifestyle- including cigarette smoking and excessive drinking. This rendered him constantly tired, often depressed, and overweight. Realizing the need for a change, he sought yoga as simply exercise and a way to relieve some of the stress in his life. Ken began an earnest daily practice of yoga after completing a beginner course. Quickly discovering the vast benefits of a daily yoga practice, Ken sought to deepen his understanding of the asanas (physical postures) and yoga philosophies by enrolling in an intensive three month yoga teacher certification program. During this transformational period, Ken became a vegetarian, ended his alcohol dependency, lost 25 pounds, and found himself feeling fantastic. Totally amazed at what a little discipline and tons of enthusiasm could accomplish, Ken's drive to continue a quest for health and wellness became a fiery passion fueled by a previously untapped source of vital energy rooted in this deep feeling of well-being. Over the following months, while losing an additional 25 pounds, Ken took his knowledge and practice of cooking to the next level. ****As sous chef, Ambergre Sloan, who's "Little Blue Brunch Truck" will be making it's debut in February with weekend brunch in Park Circle and various spots in Charleston during the week, serves vegetarian and vegan brunch for dinner and doughnuts for dessert. Emily Brown will also be assisting as sous chef and bakes special order vegan/GF pastries under "Black Sheep Bakeshop" for all those wheat sensitive vegans around town. They all work together at gRAWnola and love creating vegan recipes that will knock each others socks off. A daily Iron Chef, if you will. Collectively, they have come up with a romantic and sexy evening brunch menu that will fill your soul with satisfaction.****
